Woops! Franchise Closes Out 2016 With Several New Openings
The premier macaron franchise to open several new locations in multiple states before the end of the year
With the end of the year fast approaching, Woops!, the nation’s premier macaron franchise, plans to close out 2016 on a high note with several new openings in multiple states. Founded in 2012 with the mission of spreading the joy of the French macaron across America, 2016 has been a record-breaking year for the New York City-based brand.
Beginning in January, Woops! began franchising efforts in earnest and opened several locations in multiple states including new locations in Tucson, Arizona; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Atlanta, Georgia; King of Prussia, Pennsylvania; and Nashville, Tennessee; and the expansion continues into December with new locations scheduled to open in Boston, Massachusetts; Charlotte, North Carolina; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and West Nyack, New York, before the end of the year.
By the beginning of 2017, Woops! will be the largest retail provider of macarons in the United States. This fact isn’t surprising, given that Woops! recently announced that it sold nearly 50,000 macarons in the months leading up to the holiday season.
“We’re excited by the wave of enthusiasm we’ve experienced this year following several months of record-breaking sales and rapid national expansion,” says Gal Danay, co-founder of Woops! “It was very important to us as a franchisor to provide a business model that was simple to operate and profitable. Once we established that our brand could thrive in New York City, we knew that Woops! would be successful anywhere in the country. This has proven to be true in all of the places where we’ve opened a new location. The result of our success has generated a ton of interest in our brand, and we now have a full pipeline of eager entrepreneurs who are ready to bring Woops! to their communities. In 2017, we expect to open 100 locations across the country.”
Macarons are hotter than ever! The Woops! franchise’s rise to become the largest retailer of macarons in the United States by the beginning of 2017 has a lot to do with the French macaron capturing the American public’s imagination in a big way. A popular treat internationally for centuries, the macaron is now the “in” sweet served at parties, weddings and similar events, and whose popularity is so enduring that the macaron was dubbed “the cupcake killer” by The Atlantic. At approximately 100 calories, the gluten-free macaron is visually appealing and healthier than many other desserts.
“When you choose to eat a cupcake, you’re making a commitment to a guilty treat that is both high in calories and sugar,” says Tal Avivi, co-founder of the Woops! franchise. “On the contrary, a box of six macarons is meant to be savored and enjoyed as a shared experience that is hard to find in America. When you’re biting into a Woops! macaron, you’re tasting the most authentic French macaron that you will come across outside of Paris — a pastry that has been prepared for you by hand, in the traditional way, using natural and high-quality ingredients. Woops! is delivering authentic European flavors but with an American sensibility, and that is why we are finding so much success.”
Want to join us in spreading the joy of macarons? Woops! has two simple business models to choose from
Woops! macaron kiosks are the ideal opportunity for an aspiring entrepreneur who has always dreamed of owning a small business. With a low initial investment, Woops! macaron kiosks are easy to run and easy to scale, with minimal moving parts and a very small staff. The business already is a success in malls throughout the country, so Woops! macaron kiosks are the perfect entree into a new career as a small business owner.
“We’ve tested our business model in several malls on the East Coast, and our success has fostered a deep relationship with mall developers who cannot wait for us to come to their malls,” Raj says. “Coming from a background that includes being a franchisee of an espresso bar franchise, I know how important it is to have a simplified business model that is easy to manage, is potentially profitable and is scalable. This is exactly what we have in the malls where we have macaron kiosks open. Not only do customers crave our delicious macarons, but these malls also have the foot traffic necessary to nurture a profitable business over the long-term.”
Woops! in-line bakeshops are perfect for savvy entrepreneurs who want to give their communities an authentic European bakeshop experience with a hip, classic-contemporary aesthetic that is 100% American. Our bakeshops require only a small footprint, from 400 square feet to 1,000 square feet, and the Woops! executive team will assist you in selecting the best location for your business. Training will be extensive so that you will be well prepared to serve not only our macarons, but also our entire line of over 30 international pastries and sandwiches, as well as our branded coffee and other caffeinated delights. Bakeshops still require only a small staff, and our executive team will coach you through every step as your business grows and you earn a loyal, dedicated and growing following in your community.
“I fell in love with the idea of bringing Woops! to Tucson,” says Ellie Lippel, co-owner of the Woops! bakeshop in Tucson. “We’re in the university area, which is vibrant and thriving and full of young people. These people, especially, really desire international food, and with Woops! I can meet them where they are. You can host your customers in this wonderful, intimate setting and know that you are serving them the highest-quality international pastries and sandwiches at a very affordable price.”
