2017 Was a Banner Year for Woops! Franchise
The premier macaron franchise enjoys nationwide expansion and multi-unit growth with simple kiosk business model
Woops! franchise kicked off 2017 on a high note with the announcement of expansion plans along the East Coast in Virginia and Washington, DC, and continued that wave of expansion all year with additional news of our eligibility to franchise in California. Our New York City-based brand has recruited several savvy investors in 2017 to launch both of our highly successful business models – modern, streamlined mall kiosks and full-size bakeshops that evoke the sophisticated ambiance of authentic European bakeries.
Why is now a great time to open a Woops!? In 2016, Woops! successfully emerged as the nation’s premier macaron franchise with a record-breaking year of first-year franchise expansion. We’re on track to become the largest provider of retail macarons in the U.S. and poised to open 30 new locations in 2018 for a total of 80 nationwide.
“We’re riding a wave of enthusiasm as we close out 2017. We’ve proven time and again that our simple business model works well in any part of the country,” says Ben Woodruff, Director of Franchise Development with Woops!, who also owns three Woops! kiosks, two in Georgia and one in South Carolina. “The Woops! kiosks, especially, are simple to operate, profitable and easy to scale. As a franchisee, I can attest to the ease of our business model, the exceptional support of our executive team and the demand for our products firsthand. Macarons are hot with consumers and the majority of the markets outside of New York are underserved and highly fragmented.”
Woops! is now open for business as far west as Tuscon, Arizona, and our first California location is slated to open in late 2017 in San Francisco. Expansion news in 2017 also included announcements of new kiosk locations in Pensacola, Florida, Mobile, Alabama, and New Orleans.
Spread the joy of macarons through two simple business models
Looking for a smart investment for 2018? Woops! macaron kiosks are the ideal opportunity for an aspiring entrepreneur who has always dreamed of owning a small business. With a low initial investment, Woops! macaron kiosks are easy to run and easy to scale, with minimal moving parts and a very small staff. The business already is a success in malls throughout the country, so Woops! macaron kiosks are the perfect entree into a new career as a small business owner.
Our kiosks are also highly scalable. Once you’ve opened one location it’s not that difficult to open multiple sites. 2017 also saw a spate of multi-unit openings. In addition to Ben Woodruff launching two more locations in addition to his Lenox Mall flagship store in Atlanta, Nashville Woops! Franchisee Thomas Scott now has three kiosks in Middle Tennessee malls.
“We’ve tested our business model in several malls on the East Coast, and our success has fostered a deep relationship with mall developers who cannot wait for us to come to their malls,” says Raj Bhatt, co-founder of Woops! “Coming from a background that includes being a franchisee of an espresso bar franchise, I know how important it is to have a simplified business model that is easy to manage, is potentially profitable and is scalable. This is exactly what we have in the malls where we have macaron kiosks open. Not only do customers crave our delicious macarons, but these malls also have the foot traffic necessary to nurture a profitable business over the long-term.”
Looking for a more in-depth Woops! experience? Woops! in-line bakeshops are perfect for savvy entrepreneurs who want to give their communities an authentic European bakeshop experience with a hip, classic-contemporary aesthetic that is 100% American. Our bakeshops require only a small footprint, from 400 square feet to 1,000 square feet, and the Woops! executive team will assist you in selecting the best location for your business. Training will be extensive so that you will be well prepared to serve not only our macarons, but also our entire line of over 30 international pastries and sandwiches, as well as our branded coffee and other caffeinated delights. Bakeshops still require only a small staff, and our executive team will coach you through every step as your business grows and you earn a dedicated and growing following.
