Woops! Franchise Opens Two New Locations in Brooklyn and San Antonio
The nation’s fastest growing macaron franchise continues to rapidly expand across the United States
As the allure of the French macaron continues to capture American taste buds, a Woops! franchise remains the easiest and most lucrative way to deliver the delicious dessert, barring a trip to Paris.
Woops! offers two types of experiences for customers, the in-line bake shop or café and the stylish kiosk, easily constructed for malls. Our two newest franchise locations will feature both models. The new Brooklyn, New York, location will be reminiscent of a modern, European-styled coffee house, and the other in San Antonio, Texas, is a beautiful, customized kiosk that has proven to be wildly popular in the nation’s hottest malls.
“While our bakeshops and kiosks are designed to show off the macaron, it is truly about the overall experience of enjoying the artisanal French pastry that we like to drive home,” said Raj Bhatt, co-owner of Woops!. “Still, we also know how important it is to have a simplified business model that is easy to manage, potentially profitable and scalable. From our own experience in franchising, we created the Woops! franchise models and we know they work.”
The macaron kiosk is the ideal option for the entrepreneur who wants to run a small business with minimal moving parts and a very small staff. Our kiosks are custom-designed to showcase the colorful beauty of our macarons. From the pistachio-flavored macaron to the passionfruit, customers are always thrilled with what they see, Raj says.
We have already experienced great success with our kiosks in malls all over the country, including the New York and the Tri State area, Massachusetts, Tennessee, North Carolina, Oklahoma and now in San Antonio, Texas. Simply, the kiosk model has proven to be a rapid return on investment, Raj says. In 2015, the average annual sales of a Woops! macaron kiosk was $256,000.
“Even if people aren’t aware that they like macarons — though after one bite that will change their minds — people approach our kiosks because of their sheer beauty. They want to know what we are selling,” says Ellie Lippel, Woops! Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. “Most people have never seen anything like our kiosks, which are designed to make our macarons look like jewelry — decadent, colorful and delicious. If you’re running this business yourself, the return on investment is really great.”
The beauty of the macaron business is that it is adaptable and translates well in urban areas. Move over Starbucks and take note of our growing in-line bakeshops or cafes. They are hip with modern, European styling, but they appeal to the sophisticated American aesthetic. They can be slipped into smaller spaces of a minimum of 400 square feet and can go up to 1,000 square feet. In 2015, the average monthly sales of our Woops! in-line bakeshops was $48,500.
In Europe, the café is not only a place to get a cup of coffee and a treat, but it is also a place to socialize and meet friends. Our Woops! bakeshops offer the same welcoming environment and feature our macarons, but a great deal more, including our entire line of over 30 international pastries and sandwiches. We also have our own branded coffee.
The bakeshops require only a small staff, but they will quickly become a beacon in the community as the Woops! in-line bakeshop in Tucson, Arizona, has done. That new location opened in 2016 and quickly became a thriving location as our new partner franchise in Brooklyn, New York, will soon discover.
